Collaborative Midterm Presentation
First things first, make sure to start on this assignment right away. When you are working in a group - especially online - people can take much longer to respond or turn in their part of the assignment. You also have to work through interpersonal communication barriers in order to understand each person's point of view. I must say though, my team was awesome. Also, be prepared to take on the slack that other teammates create. It's all part of the territory. All in all, this should be an enriching assignment.
After the project was complete we had to write a Process Paper about our experience working on the Midterm as a team. Below I have included the introduction and conclusion of that paper just so you can get a feel of what it consist of, followed by a link to the presentation itself.
Online Collaboration
Down through the years people have come together and created phenomenal pioneering products, entertainment, and technologies. Ben and Jerry came up with some world famous flavors for ice cream by working together. Bill Hewlett and David Packard started a partnership in the late 1930s and have produced many innovative devices that we use constantly. The Warner Brothers –Sam, Jack, Albert, and Harry – started in the early 1900’s and revolutionized the film making industry; now day’s anyone who has every watched TV has mostly definitely seen a Warner Bros film. Lucy and Ethel garnered the laughter of millions down through the years on the I Love Lucy Show. Team work has even made history in the sports world with dynamic partnerships like Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, and the Chicago Bulls players who were the driving force behind six straight NBA titles, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Working with others is a part of everyday life. Collaborating with others aids in successful endeavors. The dividing line however, between the above-mentioned alliances and the collaboration process now days is the online component. While team members have to work through communication barriers, online collaboration is a great learning experience for team members and the whole class...
Briefly, online collaboration has been an enriching experience. Most people take for granted the face to face collaboration process, but you can appreciate all the details of collaboration when it is done online. Small details are spelled out more clearly and most people go to great lengths to get a project done. Online collaboration will no doubt produce the next generation of collaborative geniuses.
