My Legacy
Description
I have included some of the assignments that I feel will benefit a future student who is taking English 102. The artifacts include the descriptive writing assignment, my networking assignment essay, the Midterm Presentation, the introduction and conclusion for the Midterm Process Paper, and a quote from one of my favorite writers. Each item has been hand-picked to give insight to what the next couple of weeks will look like. I also picked these particular assignments because I feel I did well enough on them for use as an example for an unfamiliar student. The above artifacts include informative interpretations
on writing an essay, the writing process, insight on working as a team, and inspiration for everyday life.
Transfers
As stated above, I have included a section for the Midterm Project. This project
was pretty demanding so it is important to let a future student in on what they
have to look forward to. I have included a link for the presentation so that it
can be looked over and analyzed by students that have to do the same project. It
can be used as a good source to understand what is expected and required. I have
also included advice on collaboration, as working with a team online can be a
challenge, but not impossible. I also included the introduction and conclusion
of the Midterm Process Paper so future students can get a feel for the essay
they will have to write after the Collaboration Project is complete. These
artifacts should indicate that the presentation my team did was a success and
constructive for the class. This project has grown the way I view working with a
team online. I actually loved it. We could have done this the whole semester and
I wouldn’t complain.
Uses
Objective: Create an argumentative and/or exploratory thesis supported by textual evidence
I include my networking assignment essay Apps in Education specifically because I needed the most help with this one for a good thesis and a supportive body of information. I used a thesis generator to find a starting place for a thesis, but the confusion of the assignment left me a little scatter brained. After feedback from a fellow peer and the e-structor editing, I had a better understanding of where I needed to go from the place I started. This assignment was a great help for mastery of creating an argumentative and/or exploratory thesis supported by textual evidence. In the end, the essay had a good thesis statement and supporting evidence. Hopefully this essay will help future students sort through perplexity and get the assignment done.
Objective: Use appropriate technologies to prepare written assignments
While I do have much experience working with computers, doing power point presentations, and word documents, I have never used some of the technology offered in this course. One genius idea was the thesis generator. This was and will be a great help for future essays. When I had a hard time coming up with a thesis off the top of my head, I would use the thesis generator to give me a base to go off of. This was a help to prepare written assignments that needed a thesis statement. I have also never been required to do a website. Now, I don’t know why I haven’t done it before. It is both easy and enjoyable.
Although this technology didn’t help me to prepare a written assignment in particular, I surely had to do a lot of writing to fill the site.
Advice
For any future English 102 students I encourage you to stay the course in this class. Plan and organize your schedule wisely as to stay ahead of the work load. More than just challenges from the assignments, life is sure to through some blows that may make being a college student an immense test. However, just stay focused, don’t be deterred and you will do fine. Make sure to get clarity on any assignment that may be confusing to you instead of giving up. Classmates are a great help to one another so offer and take assistance. The required textbook is a great resource to the person that is serious about improving their writing skills so read it through and through. The CSN database is a great resource for
doing research, and of course the library is sure to be a help as well. In addition to and above everything, don’t be discouraged about Morning Pages. You will be liberated for doing them even if you don’t continue when the semester is over.
