Writing essays are a major part of and English course. When you write an essay you learn how to research, persuade, and cite sources just to name a few. The required book is a great source for examples of exceptional essay's and information on different methods. Writing essays helped me with the course objective to understand and use the writing process to create well-developed research-based essays. Each time you create an essay, your writing process is strengthened. An essay requires organization and brainstorming in order to make is functional and
understandable. My writing process was improved this semester when I turned my
essay in to smart thinking and followed the PREP standards for writing a
paragraph. I believe that this has helped contribute to my mastery of the course
objective. This essay is an example of one of the essay's we were required to write
in this course.

Apps in Education
New exciting and innovative technology is constantly on the horizon in this digital
age in which we live. The digital age – also called the computer or information age – has given birth to world renowned technological devices that most grew up watching on The Jetsons. The phrase, “with the touch of a button,” is now on the endangered terms list because of this era. New electronic devices consist of touch screens where you tap and slide in order to navigate your way to almost anything your mind can fathom. With this growth, it was only a matter of time before what man created would begin to teach him. With devices such as the IPad, IPhone, and IPod touch, the information age that so many are accustomed to, has continued to reach astonishing levels of success; and can be used as a teaching mechanism. While new features are not included right way, the use of educational apps can assist teachers within and outside of the classroom and tutor people with different abilities.
Schools across the country have set out to integrate the use of educational apps to go along with their curriculum. Educators are finding educational apps for a wide range of subjects that can be incorporated in the learning process. According to KQED’s blog site,“Technology is revolutionizing the world of education – replacing familiar classroom tools and changing the way we learn” (Barseghian). Select schools, like the Oakwood Junior High school and New York State K-12 schools are among those that have launched learning with apps from the aforementioned devices. Furthermore, well known institutions like the University of Notre Dame, Brown, Georgetown and Michigan, have all began to use educational apps as part of the teaching method. This course of learning is very effective for pupils of all ages. Applications allow students to examine, associate, visualize, and apply what they are learning. It is like replacing the standard worksheet with exciting computerized examples and techniques, which help to engage the learner’s attention.
Over the years, kids have been graced with some good tools for learning and
increasing proficiency. Hooked on Phonics assisted many children in phonetic pronunciation and in garnering a love for reading. Educational apps are the new phonics of this digital generation. In Carly Shulers article, Explosive Growth in Education Apps, she comments, “In 2007, when the iPhone made its debut, there was little doubt that it would revolutionize the mobile phone industry. But at the time, few imagined it would spawn a multibillion-dollar market for mobile applications, and fewer imagined that this market might become a significant one for children” (Shuler). The children of the future are benefitting from the education apps that are available through the android market, Apple app store, and Google. If someone’s child is struggling with addition, there are tons of age appropriate math apps available for that specific subject and many others. As a parent, you can let the educational app do the tutoring for you.
Apple has gone a step further by having education through application available for people with different learning abilities and challenges. Apple has made education useful to everyone with “The arrival of OS X Lion [which] usher[ed] in a new era of accessibility for students of all abilities” (Apple in Education). These helpful features include literacy, vision,
hearing, and physical and motor skills assistances. Witnessing first hand educational apps for children with autism, it has been a great tool to incorporate with the use of Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) as one of the many effective apps to choose from. Apple has applications available to assist people with different abilities of all sorts. Instructors can incorporate the use of them along with their programs or use them for a specific program.
Concisely, the shift in the way we use technology for everyday life has been taken to ground-breaking levels of significance. What a great way to use knowledge by creating devices that will in turn help all of mankind gain knowledge. Modern technology is growing all around the world, and the genus of educational apps will no doubt begin a new revolutionary age of technological tools that will continue to help make learning and livelihood a little more effortless for all people.
